John Gauntner, the leading non-Japanese authority on sake and the creator of this site. John has written five books and hundreds of articles on sake (see Articles & Books). He is known as "The Great Communicator" within the sake world for his uniquely concise
way of conveying all aspects of sake, sake enjoyment, sake culture, sake history, and brewing technology.
He currently publishes a free monthly newsletter and a free sake event list. He also sells various digital products online, and conducts a Pro Sake Course each year for budding sommeliers and sake aficionados.

Thanks to everyone's help, the 2nd Stateside Sake Professional Course went off without a hitch in San Francisco, this past August
10 to 12, 2008, as did the subsequent Level I Sake Specialist Certification Test . The next course will be held in Japan, and the next stateside version in New York next summer. Those interested can find
